Personal Profile

Dr. Philippa J. Johnson BVSc, CertVDI, DipECVDI, MSc, MRCVS

I am a European Board Certified Veterinary Radiologist. My residency was completed in 2012 at the Animal Health Trust under Dr. Ruth Dennis, a pioneer in veterinary neuroimaging. I went on to complete a neuroimaging masters from Kings College London. I worked at the University of California Davis before accepting my roll at Cornell University. At Cornell I worked with their amazing team as an Assistant Professor before premotion to Associate Professor in 2022.

My research field is focused primarily on developing advanced neuroimaging methods in veterinary science. We apply cutting-edge MRI techniques in the evaluation of the animal brain in order to advance our knowledge of neuroanatomy and neuropathology. In doing so, we aim to improve diagnosis and understanding of brain and spinal cord disease in the dog, cat and horse.

I am the primary or senior author on over 20 manuscripts in the field of veterinary MRI and neuroimaging, and presented my research at national and international  conferences for the ACVR, ECVDI and ACVIM. I am on the research committees for the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and American Society of Neuroradiology.

I am currently an adjunct professor at Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine where I have an active neuroimaging reasearch laboratory. I have also founded Faraday Veterinary Neuroimaging where I work with a small team of neurologists and veterinarians, providing neuroimaging teleradiology and educational services.
